films on barn

films on barn began in August 2021 and was completed and installed in April 2023. The project is a tribute to my favorite films. There are 11 works - each one is focused on a different film and consists of some of my favorite characters and/or scenes from that film. Although generally recognizable, the content is not always true to the source. I re-designed some of the scenes and collaged the characters into new compositions. Additionally, I printed a memorable line from each film.

The works have odd shapes because I designed them to fit together, like a puzzle, on the north side of our red barn. I am displaying the individual works below, with brief information about the corresponding film.

There is a 12th one - not a film, just Ash, our beloved prince, who is on top of everything.

And here is the 'AFTER':

For this project I used outdoor acrylic on 1/2” plywood. I applied multiple coats of latex primer and sealer, which hopefully will keep the project in good shape for at least several years.

Although the display is visible from the road, if anyone is interested in a closer look, they are welcome to come into our yard.
